Before you decide anything

What this data does not show.

Banking and insurance are missing

Only the auxiliary part of finance is collected, about 181 thousand jobs. Banks, insurers and investment funds are not in this data at all. If finance is your target, nothing here describes it.

Public hospitals and public schools are excluded

Education, health care, and public administration appear here in their private-sector form only. The real workforces in those three are far larger than the numbers on this site.

Employment is a headcount on one day

Everyone counted on 30 June counts as one person, whether they work five hours a week or fifty. It is not full-time equivalent, and it says nothing about hours, security or whether a job is casual.

Some series have holes in them

of series have years suppressed by the ABS for confidentiality, almost all of them in profit and purchase figures for small job types. Nothing on this site draws a trend line across a gap.
